Chosen to serve...
The Continuing Journey of Cpl. Kevin Pollock in Iraq

Hmmm, let's see... One word to describe Kevin? That's a tough one. Many words can be used to describe our friend: devoted son and brother, faithful friend, truthful, humble yet noble, encourager and counselor, servant, warrior, and of course, dedicated Christian. Another word that comes to mind when describing Kevin is "Chosen" In the short months that we were priviledged to serve with Kevin in ChallengePoint in 2003 before his deployment to Iraq, One thing was always very evident in when talking with Kevin - that God had chosen him for His marvelous works. You don't have to look very hard to find Kevin's faith, servant heart, and dedication to the work that he has been called to do. I know he has this same dedication as he serves our country in Iraq for the greater good of freedom at work there.

As you know, Kevin served in the work of ChallengePoint during the summer of 2003. It is truly a privedge to know Kevin and was an honor to serve with him during his internship. After returning to school in the fall of 2003 to finish up his coursework at Southeast Missouri State University, his Army National Guard Reserve Unit was called up to serve in Iraq, or "the beach" as Kevin has nick-named it, Kevin's school decided to allow him to graduate early, and he shipped out early in 2004. Needless to say, Kevin's tour has been an adventure, but by no means a walk in the park. His work has included improvements to schools; patrols of various kinds, and most recently, the collection and destruction of old bombs and weapons that could jeopardize the safety of both US forces and Iraqi Citizens. Kevin feels good about the work he is doing, and he has a very good attitude about being there. Kevin will likely be on active duty in Iraq until March 2005, so please keep him and his unit in your prayers as they carry out the work of nation-building. If you would like to email Kevin, send him a message at this address: kevin.j.pollock@us.army.mil
